JUNE - Third place in both the mixed choral singing and puirt-a-beul competitions at the provincial Mod in Oban, Argyll. We were very reassured that our marks stood up well to some stiff competition.
SEPTEMBER - First place in both the mixed choral (Provost Archibald Brown Trophy) and puirt-a-beul at the provincial Mod in Lochgilphead, Argyll. Choir members were delighted to gain our first ever win - all the more so because, given our inexperience, it was quite unexpected!
OCTOBER - Third place in the Sherrif MacMaster Campbell competition for rural choirs at the Royal National Mod in the Isle of Skye, competing against some of the top rural choirs in Scotland - the icing on the cake in our first full year of competition. (See the celebrations)

SEPTEMBER - Third place in the provincial Mod at Lochgilphead against some of the big boys!
OCTOBER - Second place in the Puirt-a-beul at the National Mod in Fort William in a cliff-hanging competition which saw the final choir's marks delayed by the noisy arrival of Princess Anne's helicopter. Some people have no sense of occasion.

2000 - Our Annus Mirabilis

We had to build a trophy cabinet

JUNE - Third place in the Mixed Voices at the Oban Provincial Mod
JULY - No trophy but an invitation to sing at 'Yn Chruinnaght', the Isle of Man Pan-Celtic Festival, only the second Scottish Gaelic choir ever to appear - a great time was had by all! Many thanks to Argyll & Bute Council, Awards for All, Taynuilt Community Council, the Schroder Foundation and, of course, the Yn Chruinnaght committee, especially Muriel and Claire.

SEPTEMBER - Second equal place for our Ladies' Choir in Mull on their first ever competitive outing (we know where the talent lies!)

OCTOBER - Third place, again for the Ladies' Choir, at the Royal National Mod in Stornoway - onwards and upwards, girls.

JUNE - First place in the mixed voices, winning the Comunn Gaidhealach An Oban Salver and second place in the puirt-a-beul at the Oban Provincial Mod
SEPTEMBER - Well, Mull Mod always has marvellous après-ski - that's why we go; Second in the puirt-a-beul and third in the mixed voices at Mod Dhalriada in Lochgilphead. Is there a pattern developing here??
OCTOBER - A STUNNING Royal National Mod in Stornoway and our best cache of silverware yet. First place in the rural puirt-a-beul, winning the Aline MacKenzie Memorial Trophy, the Evelyn Huckbody Memorial Trophy for highest marks in music and sharing the Calum Robertson Memorial Trophy for highest marks in Gaelic with Lochs Gaelic Choir. Later on the same day, we took the Selma Shield for highest Gaelic marks in the Sheriff MacMaster Campbell competition for Rural Choirs. Together with a creditable performance from our ladies in the Rural Ladies' Choirs competition, we also took home the MacCowan Trophy for the Argyll resident choir with the highest aggregate Gaelic marks. We must get a bigger trophy cabinet!
